Community Highlight: Gaslight Village

We at Regal Home Group would like to highlight communities in the Greater Grand Rapids Area and Surrounding Areas.  To start this, we have chosen Gaslight Village in East Grand Rapids.  A list of sources is located at the bottom of the blog.

Gaslight Village Fountain

Located in the beautiful East Grand Rapids, Gaslight Village is right on Reed’s Lake.  You cannot ask for better views and walking areas.  Reed’s Lake is surrounded by a 4.2 mile footpath.  Right at the edge of Gaslight Village is John Collin’s Park, where you can enjoy a picnic with views of the lake.  With a new retail center that has also gone in, there is plenty to do in this small community!

Entering Gaslight Village

We love all of the businesses in Gaslight Village, but here are just a few I was able to stop in at on lunch:

Rosa’s Closet:  Located right at the entrance to Gaslight Village, Rosa’s closet is an Upscale Resale Boutique for women!  They inspire you to “only keep the things you really love in your closet and to part with the rest and buy the things someone else once loved!”  I spoke with the store manager, Amy, who told me, “My favorite part of Gaslight Village is just being a part of such a tight knit community!”  She loves being a part of Gaslight Village and loves the store.  I was able to leave with a J Crew skirt and White House Black Market skirt!  They also have a community worker discount of 10%!  This store loves the community and provides exemplary service!  Find the best fashions here!

James Salon:  The James Salon is located in the center of Gaslight Village.  Not only does it offer salon styles, it offers fashion styles!  Owned by James Garnant, The James Salon brings expertise and experience in all beauty services, right to the heart of Gaslight Village.  Stop on in for a cut and style or for a sultry sundress or shimmering fall boots!  The salon also does benefits for the community such as “Sip and Shop”, a benefit they put on early this Spring for the EGR Crew Team!  We love local businesses that give back to their communities!  “The Mission of The James Salon is to provide creative, cutting edge, skilled beauty services to our clientele in an upscale, friendly and cooperative atmosphere. We work together as a team while demonstrating our commitment and passion to our craft. We provide an atmosphere of respect for each other and ask that it be shared with everyone we work with, including clients.  We strive to provide all clients with a memorable and enjoyable experience. Jose Babushka’s:  This restaurant has combined old favorites and new flavors to create an eccentric menu!  The menu is diverse and offers made-from-scratch salsas, sauces and unique recipes along with a full bar with local beer, great wines and creative cocktails (website).  We dined with excellent service and our lunch was delicious!  Stop on in for lunch, dinner, or cocktails!  They also have a happy hour!

Chopped Salad…so fresh!

Brussels sprouts appetizer…best thing I’ve ever eaten!!!

House made chips and salsa.

Jersey Junction:  Jersey Junction is a staple in Gaslight Village!  It has been around since 1963!  You can read the complete history on their website listed under sources at the bottom of this blog…it’s amazing!  Jersey Junction offers everything from ice cream (even vegan flavors) to chocolate covered cheesecakes, fruits, and candies!  It’s charming decor pulls you in, or there are many places to enjoy your treat outside!  Stop on in for scrumptious treat from the friendliest staff!  We recommend Chocolate Monster or go big with a Banana Split!

In conclusion, Gaslight Village is a wonderful community in East Grand Rapids that offers shopping, dining, gyms, salons, and more!  Have a nice meal, take a walk in the park, or pamper yourself!  We encourage you to visit for an afternoon and enjoy this small community here in beautiful West Michigan!
